Terms of use
Effective October 17, 2026
By using EmojiCanvas (emojicanvas.com, “the site”) you agree to the terms below. The site is a free information service run by an individual.
1. The service
The site provides emoji names, codes, design images and explanatory articles, and lets you copy emoji characters. There is no registration and no payment.
2. Using the content
Emoji characters themselves are part of the Unicode Standard and free for anyone to use. The emoji images shown on the site are each covered by an open license (Apache 2.0, CC BY 4.0 or MIT); if you reuse them you must follow the terms of that license. Sources are listed on the sources and licenses page.
The explanatory articles and page layouts written for the site are copyrighted by the site. Quoting a portion with a link back to the page is fine; republishing whole articles elsewhere or scraping them for redistribution is not permitted.
3. Accuracy
The nuance and usage described in the articles vary by region, generation and context, and change over time. We try to keep the content accurate but do not guarantee its completeness or fitness for any particular purpose. For anything important, consider who you are writing to and the situation.
4. Limitation of liability
The site is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of, inability to use, or errors in the site.
5. External links and advertising
The site may contain links to external websites and third-party advertisements. We are not responsible for the content of external sites or for advertisers’ products and services.
6. Prohibited use
Automated access that places excessive load on the site, interference with its normal operation, and bulk scraping of its content without permission are prohibited.
7. Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with its effective date and will apply to use after that date.
8. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent via the contact page.
